It is my deepest honour to inform you of my date of birth. It is on the 24th of December. While I do not know yet if there shall be a gathering on my behalf, I wish to receive a present of sorts from you. I hope you do not disappoint.
[ a small package arrives at yuuri's doorstep. in the box is a red cloak. attached is a letter, which reads: ]
Dearest King Yuuri,
I am truly honoured to be your friend. While in Khura'in, Christmas is not a tradition we celebrate, I still wished to give something to my esteemed friends. I do hope we will be able to become closer in the future.
[Waiting for Yuuri when he gets home will be a box of chocolates and a MASSIVE white rose bouquet with red roses for accents. The card attached reads:]
"Your mama is thinking of you, Yuu-chan. Stay strong, even in another world!"
[ Don't worry, Yuuri. Of course you would be included in this joyous day of celebration. Shinou made chocolates for everyone in the house hold including Yuuri. So sitting on top of Yuuri's bed when he gets home is a nicely decorated bag of chocolates in the shape of catchyballs baseballs. The design on the baseballs might not be completely accurate, mostly because Shinou's never actually seen one before, but it's the thought that counts.
Just remember that fact when you bite into the chocolate, Yuuri. Because this chocolate might kill you from its taste. It was really bad and salty and who let Shinou into the kitchen alone?
Attached to his chocolates is a note personalized for Yuuri. ]
My beloved Maou Yuuri
There are many things I must appreciate and love you for on a day like today. You saved my kingdom, you carried on my legacy. You brought me great amusement with your engagement to the young Bielefelt. So thank you, Yuuri. I appreciate your beautiful soul I formed, and everything you have done with it. And I cannot wait to find more amusing reactions when the two who have your heart meet.
[There appears to be some sort of dark chunk on Yuuri's nightstand. It's got a wooden stick in it like a lollipop, but from a distance it doesn't appear to be anything more than a large lump of chocolate.
Upon closer inspection, it can be interpreted as either in the shape of a clam, or something extremely inappropriate. It's not very romantic either way.
There's a note tucked beneath the chocolate chunk. Predictably, the writing is elegant and full of aristocratic curls. It might be a little difficult to read with all the flair, or entirely impossible.]
Yuuri,
Please accept this chocolate that was made with love for you. Don't leave behind a single crumb!
Eternally yours, Wolfram

[ At around ten in the morning on Valentine's Day, Yuuri will definitely feel obvious lovey-dovey feelings through the link that makes it a lot more obvious who the sender is. If he listens closely enough, he might be able to hear the almost loud sounds of a racing heartbeat and the feeling of a warm summer breeze that follows through.
And even though Inaba tends to pour in what seems to be confidence and pride, there seems to be an awkward meekness behind it, her voice pitched higher than normal as she manages to speak. ]
... Hey, Yuuri. You're not busy today, are you? I was wondering if maybe we could just [ "go on a date" but she doesn't say that ] hang out. Or something. Since it's Valentine's Day and all.
[ It has him a little nervous, but if she wants to go there, then he doesn't mind. They've hung out at his place before, but he has roommates. It's different. ]
[Whenever Yuuri gets back to the house, he'll find a small picture frame on the kitchen table that definitely wasn't there this morning. The frame itself is pretty fancy despite its size, perfect for a decoration on a nightstand, and looks like it's made out a dark, smoothly carved wood.
The real highlight is the picture that's within the frame - a painting upon closer inspection. It's a portrait, full of vibrant paints and soft lighting, and pointedly not a wild interpretation of the abstract cubism-impressionism-whatever that is Wolfram's preferred style.
It's of Greta, sitting on a royal couch and in a darling dress with flowers in her hands. There's a note below the frame, which reads:]
This style is an insult to what I could do, but it is the closest way I can bring our daughter to you. Happy birthday, Yuuri.
[The lower half of the note is taken up by Wolfram's lengthy family signature afterwards. At least this is less fancy than he'd normally go for.]
[ When Yuuri comes home, he almost immediately notices something on the kitchen table and heads over to check it out. He isn't expecting a portrait of Greta, painted beautifully and in what he remembers Wolfram calling his "old style". It immediately brings a soft smile to his face as he gently holds the portrait in his hands.
He's not sure if Wolfram is in the house right now, so he decides to send a message over the link. ]
[Wolfram had to run out again after placing the gift, so a quick thanks mentally works for now. A bigger thanks in person might be expected (definitely expected) when Wolfram does return later.]
It's still not what I'd prefer. [Gosh, when will people start appreciating real art styles...!] But I'm glad. And don't leave it in direct sunlight!
[ Coming by messenger pigeon is a blue box marked for Yuuri but the person who gave this doesn't seem to be listed. Upon touching it, however, he'll notice that there's the slightest hints of emotions there: longing, perhaps even a touch of melancholy.
Inside the box, he'll find blue gloves the same shade of blue as the scarf she made him last year. Along with that seems to be a baseball bat with his name engraved on it.
While there may not be a name, there's definitely a handwritten card that reveals just exactly who this is, however, given the neat, Japanese calligraphy: ]
I hope you have a merry Christmas. I'm not really good at making gifts, or coming up with them, but hopefully this will be useful to you.
[ Inaba knows exactly what day today is, and she's a little apprehensive and unsure if she should be doing this. She's always questioning herself and wanting to distance herself but... she won't. Not this time. Hence why she's taking a breath in and decides to ask him a single question, through the telepathic link.
[ He's actually surprised to get a message from Inaba, especially on Valentine's Day. Although he had a small sliver of hope she would reach out to him, Yuuri still didn't expect anything. ]
[Shockingly, there's a small gift waiting on the kitchen table for whenever Yuuri is around. It's a plainly wrapped box with matching plain-looking chocolate inside, because that's as much as Yuuri deserves when he's still In Trouble. Maybe it's preferred over the supposed clam-shaped chocolate from last year, huh?
There's a note under the box, on some nice, cream paper and with Wolfram's elegant writing on it.]
Don't think you're off the hook just because of this, but I know human holidays are important to you. Happy Valentine's Day.
[ Yuuri's a little nervous opening the box, not sure what he would fine. He breathes a small sigh of relief when he sees that it's just plain chocolate. That clam was really a little much last year...
But Yuuri knows he should thank Wolfram for this, especially since he really didn't expect to get anything from him this year. Since he's not sure Wolfram is actually in the house, he uses the telepathic link. ]
[Well, if Yuuri does get back on Wolfram's good side, maybe he'll get an even bigger chocolate clam next year! Use that as your motivation.
A minute passes before Wolfram responds; he is out and about, but he won't follow up so quickly unless 1) it's an emergency or 2) Yuuri's in a sudden mood to sign some marriage documents.]
